About: (Description)
Lækjartorg, (“Brook square”) is opposite Stjórnarráðshúsið north of Austurstræti. It has been of importance in the life of Reykjavík from earliest times. Farmers bringing wares to market ended their journey there, and commonly camped on Lækjartorg while they completed their business in town.
