About: (Description)
Grundarfjörður, (pop. 880) a township in a fjord of the same name. Has prospered in recent decades: fishing and fish processing. There was formerly a tradingpost at the eastern end of the head of the fjord.

Kirkjufell, (“Church mountain”) (463 m) an impressive mountain, climbable but difficult and tiring because of rocks. One of the most beautiful mountains on Snæfellsnes. Called “Sugarloaf” by the Danes.

How to get there:
Take road no. 54 from Borgarnes direction Stykkishólmur. After about 65 km take exit to road no. 56 to Stykkishólmur. At the end of that road take exit to road no. 54 again to Grundarfjörður.
