About: (Description)
Hvanneyri is the home of the Agricultural University of Iceland. The church at Hvanneyri was built and blessed in 1905. The town boasts a remarkable collection of agricultural and farming equipment on show, as well as a handcraft gallery called Ullarselið, specializing in Icelandic wool products.
There is also a candle-making enterprise where visitors are invited to participate in the art of candle-making.
Horticultural experiments are under way in Hvanneyri and a specially protected area has been selected for this purpose. Tourists are welcome to experience a bit of rural life by visiting the cowsheds, especially at milking time.
How to get there:
From Borgarnes take road no. 1 direction Reykjavík about 2,5 km to exit to road no. 50 direction Hvanneyri. Drive by road no. 50 about 9 km to exit to road no. 511 to Hvanneyri.
