Þjóðveldisbær, (“Farm of the republic”) a farm building below the spur Sámsstaðamúli, constructed in the medieval style in commemoration of the 1,100 years of settlement in Iceland in 1974. A small stave church, enclosed with turf, has been built next to the farmhouse replica. The design is conjectural, based on ruins of a church found in excavations at Stöng.

How to get there:
Take road no. 1 from Selfoss direction Vík ot exit to road no. 30 to Flúðir. After about 16 km by road no. 30 take exit to road no. 32 to Árnes and Hrauneyjar. After about 27 km drive on road no. 32 there is a small road to Búrfell Power Plant. There is a sign by the road.
