The outermost point of the Miðnes peninsula, the northpointing "toe" of the Reykjanes peninsula.

Quite densely populated. Old and new lighthouses, birdwatching station. In the old lighthousem, built 1897, there is a map of the Garðskagi reef showing where ships have stranded, and other information about the coast.

In earlier times there was more cultivation of land in this area than in most other parts of Iceland.

How to get there:
Take road no. 45 to Garður. Drive through the town of Garður and continue towards the beach at Garðskagi.
