Hengifoss Waterfall

One of highest waterfalls in Iceland, 118 m, in the river Hengifossá near the farm Brekka. In the gorge there, which is pretty and varied, are lignite and fossils. Another waterfall further downstream, Litlanesfoss, is set in basalt columns.

How to get there:
Take road no. 931 from Egilsstaðir direction Kárahnjúkar and Skriðuklaustur. After about 35 km drive from Egilsstaðir you will see a parking place by the waterfall.
