The University of Iceland is situaded in the heart of Reykjavík and was founded in 1911. It is to date Iceland’s largest community of knowledge. It is surrounded by some of Icelands most valuable tresures such as the National Museum, Árnastofnun and the National and University Library of Iceland and more.

The university holds resources that are uniquely Icelandic. These include the manusscripts preserved in the Árni Magnússon Institute, Icelandic census recordings dating from 1703, exeptionally complete genealogical data and climatological, glaciological, seismic and geothermal records and more.
