Region:
South East
GPS:

About: (Description)
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall South Iceland
Seljalandsfoss, one of the higher waterfalls in Iceland, though it has little water. A path at the bottom of the cliff makes it possible to walk behind the fall. The waterfall and its surroundings are floodlit at night.
Seljaland, a farm where many small caves are to be found, one of them Kverkarhellir, previously used for official gatherings. Above the farm is the cave Seljalandshellir, sometimes called Papahellir, where there are many ancient remains, and cross marks in the tuff walls, near the highway.
How to get there:
Take road no. 1 from Selfoss direction Vík. After about 22 km from Hvolsvöllur take exit to road no. 249 to Þórsmörk. Seljalandsfoss is after about 0,5 km from that exit. You will see it from road no. 1
