An ancient manor farm, church and parsonage. The famous Valþjófsstaður church door, one of the finest items in the National Museum at Reykjavík, came from there. The door now on the church is an exact replica.

Tröllkonustígur (“Giantess’ path”) above the farm. Once the home of the Þórarinsson brothers, Þorvarður, one of the most powerful men in Iceland in his day (d. 1297), and Oddur, a great warrior slain in 1255 at Geldingaholt.

How to get there:
Take road no. 931 from Egilsstaðir direction Kárahnjúkar and Skriðuklaustur. Follow that road until it changes number to 933. Valþjófsstaður is few km further in the Valley than Skriðuklaustur.
