Búðir - An old anchorage, later a trading centre - Snaefellsnes Iceland
Staðarsveit, 356 Snæfellsbær
Region:
Snaefellsnes
GPS:
N64°49.384 W23°23.100
About: (Description)
Búðir, an old anchorage, later a trading centre. The 19th century church is unusual, not only in its setting, but also because it was raised by a woman who did not have the support of the church authorities, but special permission from the king in Denmark.
This can be seen on a ring on the church door. Fine views. One of the best sand and shingle beaches in Iceland, good for sea and sun bathing.
How to get there:
Take road no. 54 from Borgarnes. There is an exit to Búðir about 103 km from Borgarnes.
